High Commission of India celebrates the

77th Independence Day of India on 15 August 2023

The High Commission of India celebrated the 77th Independence Day of India in the morning of 15 August 2023, at the “India House”, the Official Residence of the High Commissioner of India.

His Excellency Ambassador Alok A. Dimri, High Commissioner, hoisted the National Flag, which was followed by singing of the National Anthem. High Commissioner read the excerpts of President’s Address to the Nation, delivered on the eve of the 77th Independence Day.

The guests at the function displayed national Tricolour in the spirit of the nation - #HARGHARTIRANGA – as part of the ongoing “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” (AKAM) celebrations. AKAM is an initiative of the Government of India to celebrate and commemorate 75 years of independence and the glorious history of its people, culture and achievements. The official journey of AKAM commenced on 12th March 2021, that began with a 75-week countdown to the 75th anniversary of independence and concludes on 15th August 2023. It is dedicated to the people of India who have been instrumental in bringing India thus far in its evolutionary journey towards an “Aatmanirbhar” Bharat.

The celebrations were witnessed with enthusiastic participation by the members of the Indian community, school children, Persons of Indian Origin, and friends of India. The programme was live streamed to facilitate participation of a larger community in Brunei.

Light Indian-snacks were served at the conclusion of the function.
