The High Commission of India proudly commemorated the 78th Independence Day of India on the morning of 15 August 2024 at the India House, the official residence of the High Commissioner of India. The event was a momentous occasion, marking India’s enduring legacy of freedom and sovereignty.

The celebration commenced with the hoisting of the Indian national flag by His Excellency Ambassador Alok A. Dimri, High Commissioner, followed by the singing of the National Anthem, "Jana Gana Mana,” resonating with pride and unity. The ceremony was attended by members of the Indian community, school children, Persons of Indian Origin, and friends of India, who gathered to honour this significant day in India’s history.

High Commissioner read the excerpts of President’s Address to the Nation, delivered on the eve of the 78th Independence Day. High Commissioner highlighted the progress India has made since its independence and the strong bonds shared with Brunei Darussalam. The High Commissioner also paid tribute to the sacrifices of the freedom fighters who paved the way for the nation’s independence.

As part of the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign from 9th to 15th August 2024 to mark the celebrations of Indian Independence Day, Indian community came together and showcased national pride by participating in it.

Guests enjoyed a selection of Indian cuisine, reflecting the diverse culinary traditions of India.

The 78th Independence Day celebration at India House was a resounding success, reinforcing the spirit of unity and patriotism. It served as a reminder of India’s remarkable journey and its continued commitment to growth and international cooperation.
