Commemoration of 60th Indian Technical and Economic
Cooperation Day, Wednesday, 27 November 2024.

The Sixtieth ITEC Day-2024 was celebrated on 27 November, 2024, at the India House, High Commission of India, Brunei Darussalam.

2. Nearly sixty guests, ITEC alumni, representatives from academia, local chambers of trade, students, prominent members of diaspora were in attendance.

3. His Excellency Ambassador Alok A. Dimri, High Commissioner of India, in his opening remarks, underscored the significance of the ITEC program as a pivotal platform for technical assistance and capacity building. He highlighted India’s commitment to fostering development partnerships with ITEC partner countries, including Brunei Darussalam.  ITEC, the flagship capacity-building initiative of the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, stands as one of the world’s longest-running and most robust frameworks for international collaboration. Since its inception, the program has trained over 200,000 professionals from more than 160 countries across civilian and defence sectors. This enduring commitment reflects India’s guiding philosophy: to share its knowledge, skills, and expertise based on the unique developmental priorities of its partner nations. Notably, 68 Bruneian nationals have benefited from ITEC fellowships, further cementing the strong bonds of friendship and cooperation between India and Brunei Darussalam.

4. Details of upcoming ITEC Fellowships are regularly shared with the Bruneian counterparts. Government of India accords full-hospitality to the ITEC participants. About three hundred ITEC courses in myriad domains are offered annually to nearly fifteen-thousand personnel from partner countries. 

5. Brunei participants shared their ITEC experiences and how it has helped in furthering their career. 

6. The event concluded with a dinner/reception over Indian cuisine and delicacies.
